WAYNESBORO -- City council members approved a plan on Monday night to get Kate Collins Middle School out of debt. Now, it's up to the school board, which has a meeting scheduled for Tuesday night, to approved the plan.
Douglas Norcross, a school board member, thinks the board will vote favorably to clean up the school's $5 million debt.
"I think it will definitely pass. I'm very sure of that. I mean it's been lingering for a while. It has been a year and a half. Probably two years maybe and it's time for us to settle it and we just sort of saying, 'Ok we'll do this as a compromise,'" said Norcross.
On Monday, city council members agreed to pay $363,000 to help the school's debt, while giving less money to the school.
