On Tuesday afternoon, the Powerball jackpot was at $500 million and steadily rising. People had been streaming in all day buying tickets to have a chance at the jackpot.

One gas station saw people buy more than 50 tickets at a time. Sales clerks think that as the drawing gets closer the lines will get longer.

With the jackpot so high, it brings out even the occasional player.

"No threshold on it. I buy a ticket every now and then,” said Brandon Carter, a Powerball player, “I win every now and then. Sometimes I'm lucky sometimes you're not. I'd have to take care of my family. Set up college funds and give back to the community too."

The next drawing for the Powerball jackpot will be Wednesday evening. Tickets are $2 each.
