ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va -- Students at Turner Ashby High School remembered their classmate, Jackson Reel, on Wednesday. Jackson was a 16-year-old, who was killed in a car accident on Tuesday. He was riding in the car with a 17-year-old girl when the car hit a tree.

Students were in tears at Turner Ashby High School, trying to cope with this tragedy.

Steve Walk, the school's principal, said the school has a crisis plan in place for all students to get extra support during this time. That means they have multiple counselors on standby to help students who are grieving.

Principal Walk told a WHSV reporter a little more about Jackson and he said he was an intelligent student and part of the wrestling team.

"Coaches describe him as tough, as focused and in fact they tell the story that behind that tough he had a very good sense of humor and very laid back but he never felt the pressure," said Jackson.

Principal Walk said the school will have a memorial service on Saturday at 10 a.m The crash is still under investigation, but state police say speed was a factor and that both teenagers were wearing their seat belts at the time.
