ROCKINGHAM COUNTY -- Singers Glen Rescue Squad is in need of more volunteers. It's struggling to keep the place open during the day.

Kevin Lloyd is the president of the Singers Glen Rescue Squad. He said there are only eight active volunteers right now who are responsible for more than 1200 addresses.

It takes at least two people to respond to a call: a driver and someone in the back to administer first aid. If there is no one to respond to the call, dispatch has to pull from another agency that may be far away.

"A lot of times it's 25 minutes into the call, and if it's a cardiac condition that's not a good thing. We need to get there as quick as we can," said Lloyd.

The whole month of May, the rescue squad works on its fund drive. Next month, it will be focusing more on recruiting and trying to get the squad fully staffed, trained and functioning.
