SHD Winter Weather Preparations

WEYERS CAVE, Va. -- With a winter storm arriving late Christmas night, some serious trouble could be on the way for airlines.

Shenandoah valley regional airport is ready for these types of events. The airport has enough equipment to clear all 6-thousand and 2 feet of runway at any given time. It has plows and even snow-blowers if the snow gets too deep to plow.

Ground crews try to keep aircraft in the hangars, but most of the planes just take the brunt of the weather.

Ramp agent Aaron Buster shows us what the airport does to make sure it's good to go after the storm, "we'll put anything that's on the outside of the plane that not fixed to it, inside of it. We will probably button down props and chalk all wheels with sandbags to make sure the aircraft doesn't roll away or end up damaged in the morning."

Buster is supposed to be off tomorrow, but with situations like this, everyone is on call, and everything is ready to go.
