HARRISONBURG, Va. -- With Thursday's wintry weather, more people without a home may have needed a warm place to stay.

Capt. Duane Burleigh at the Salvation Army said if the shelter saw a lot of people, another one could be opened.

"For a normal snow storm, for what they're calling for tonight, we might not see that big an increase, maybe some, but we're prepared to do whatever we need to do,” said Capt. Burleigh, “We've been doing this for a long time, we have people who are trained and know what to do, and we'll go from there."

Capt. Burleigh said usually law enforcement will see whether people need help during colder weather and police or deputies will call him if they have people who need a place to stay.

Burleigh said they have plenty of room at the Salvation Army for anyone who needs help.

If you or someone you know ever needs help, especially in the cold weather, Capt. Burleigh said to call police first and they can get you to where you need to be.
