HARRISONBURG -- The newest Politico poll shows Libertarian candidate for governor Robert Sarvis with 12 percent support of likely voters. Tuesday night, he was on the James Madison University campus.

More than 100 students came to Taylor Hall to listen to Sarvis and ask questions of the candidate. We asked him his thoughts on his surprising numbers in the recent polls, and the government shutdown.

"It says that people are tired of seeing so much money buying legislation and regulations, they're tired of the influence and seeing special interest control what we get from government," said Sarvis.

Sarvis tells us that his campaign is funded mostly by individuals and small businesses. His campaign has raised around $90,000, making it the most cost effective for the number of voters, based on the latest polling.
