Many people in the Valley are suffering from Powerball fever.
Striking it rich is just the first step.
Despite the Powerball odds, Harrisonburg stores has seen a mad rush to registers.
Nautica Coleman is feeling lucky. "I don't typically play. This is about the third time ever that i've played, ever." said Coleman.
Coleman says she couldn't resist trying to win the $550 million jackpot with a little encouragement from her mom.
"She pretty much told me to buy at least one ticket, I went ahead and got three, trying to triple my chances."
So if you beat the odds and win the jackpot, what do you do?
"Just take a deep breath, relax. You'll live through it." said Jim Crawford, financial analyst. "you will get advice from lottery officials on finding an accountant, attorney, advisors to help you through it."
Crawford advises the winner to take the lump sum because it's better over time, but you have to be frugal.
Crawford says, "with that kind of money, you're still going to have a lot of taxes to pay and some major decisions to make."
Nautica Coleman has already made a few of her own.
"Pay off bills, loans, further my education, set some aside for my children and hopefully go into some sort of missionary work." said Coleman.
Since Powerball is played in so many different states, if more than one ticket matches all of the winning numbers, that means the jackpot has to be split among those winners. If not, we can definitely expect to see another record-breaking jackpot Saturday night.
