STAUNTON, Va –- Pufferbellies Toys and Books has raised more than $20,000 for Valley non-profits. The ongoing program donates 10-percent of all Sunday sales to organizations serving children and families.

Owners said they got the idea from a catering business years ago.

It has helped raise their Sunday sales as more people want to come in and contribute. They would like to see more small businesses working to better the community.

“I even have sort of a fantasy of all of the downtown stores coming together to do something like this,” said Erin Blanton, co-owner of Pufferbellies. “Even if it's not our shop, Sunday's cause, which I would love for other groups to join us on. I would love to have something sort of ongoing that local downtown Staunton businesses can participate in.”

During August, Pufferbellies will be donating to Camp Dragonfly. It's a camp to help children and teens cope with the loss of a loved one.
