PENDELTON COUNTY -- Friday night was suppose to be the opening of the Golden Angels Cabaret, but that will not be happening.
"Them girls are going in there stripping and showing their bodies, that is so nasty and ridiculous," said Terry Mellon, a grandparent opposed to the strip club.
Mellon is pleased the business, operating under the name Pancakes, Biscuits and more LLC, is not opening yet.
"They received a copy of an ordinance reported to be adopted in 2005, which we now we need to review to determine what steps need to be done," said Kin Sayre, who is the attorney representing the company.
For grandparents like Terry Mellon, the most concerning factor is its distance from Brandywine Elementary School.
"It would kind of get a lot of women and their husbands in a lot of arguments," said Mellon, who has a grandchild who attends the elementary school.
The school is about a mile from the strip club.
"I don't mind a strip club, it would put some entertainment in Brandywine," said a woman who stopped by the strip club.
"I think anything that generates revenue for this county and this state is a great thing to have. If you don't like the channel then turn it. If you don't like the club then don't come," said a man who stopped by the strip club.
The owner of the club says despite the opposition that she is facing, she thinks her business will be an asset to the area.
