HARRISONBURG, Va -- Donald Donkle, a Lowe's manager, said if you buy anything marked with an Energy Star label this weekend, you will save 5-percent on that item. These appliances include refrigerators, ceiling fans and thermostats.

Donkle said the state is pushing you to 'Go Green' by eliminating taxes on these items this weekend. He said this is not just a good thing for shoppers.

"One it's saving the consumer money,” said Donkle. “It's our natural resources, and it's Mother Earth and that's the good thing. Green is good."

Donkle said if you were planning on getting some of these items, you might as well try to get them this weekend to save money. He said you can get them at most of your local appliance stores.

This tax-free holiday will run from Friday through Monday. Energy Star and Water-Sense products are exempt from the sales tax, if the products are $2500 or less.
