The Shenandoah Valley Tea Party is letting people know where it stands on the election results. The group is still raising some eyebrows because of one part of its latest newsletter.
The one part getting the most attention is the question, "Comprehensive Immigration Reform Needed? The Tea Party says that's not why President Obama received the majority of the Hispanic vote. Bruce Richmond, the newsletter's author, says Hispanics picked Obama because they are "consumers of government largeness."
"We think there are a lot of Hispanic voters who vote, not because they are conservative or liberal, but because they're voting for their pocketbooks." explained Richmond.
Rick Cansteneda is the home school liason at Harrisonburg City Schools. He has protested in the past against deportation. He told News 3 by phone "this rhetoric does not fit the morals of the people of the Shenandoah Valley."
Richmond says, "maybe there is exceptions. Maybe we have to go another way with that. I don't think so, but it might happen."
The Tea Party takes its concerns to Richmond Friday for a weekend conference on what's next for the group.
