Many good neighbors in the Valley have been helping WHSV collect toys for kids in need as part of our annual Toy Convoy.

It has been a great success already, with a huge amount of toys collected. Nearly 2,000 bags of toys this year were collected, ensuring many kids in the area will have a merry Christmas. Some very lucky kids will even be getting a new bike this year. Additionally, children will be able to pick out a new outfit at the convoy.

This program not only makes the needy kids happy, but the volunteers, as well. Nelson Herring and his sister volunteer every year, and this he year matches up paperwork with the bags of toys and clothing.

"The expression on their face when they know they're going to get something for Christmas, it's really gratifying. That's the thing about it. That's our joy is the gratification in the faces of the families and the kids on distribution day," Herring explained.

Families can pick up their bags on Dec. 20th.
