Harrisonburg is one step closer to getting a new mass transit hub On Vine Street.
The city announced on Friday that it has picked a contractor for the $14 million dollar project. The transit center will be built at the corner of Vine Street and East Washington Street. The site currently has a central garage and water storage for the city.
The new transit center will have an office building and a maintenance building. It will also have places for buses to be serviced, washed and filled with fuel.
The city's transportation director says the services have expanded so much recently that the hub is necessary.
