The Turner Ashby High School Drama Team won the Virginia High School League State Competition.
The winning performance is now taking the One-Act Play Team to the Southeastern Theatre Conference in Tennessee where they will perform "The Anatomy of Gray" for an audience of four-thousand.
The play deals with death, loss, love and healing in a unique coming of age story.
The students said that they put all their effort into this play because they believe in the message it holds for their audience.
They had an outstanding performance at the competition on Tuesday, December 6th.
Their teacher says that they have done an outstanding job all year.
"They got first place in the district, first place in the region, and then first place in the state. Then, first place at the Virginia Theater Association Competition as well,” said their Drama Teacher, Cecille Deason.
“One of the teachers earlier today gave them a broom saying, it was a clean sweep. And that was really sweet because it's nice to be recognized for the hard work that the kids put in,” said Deason.
Turner Ashby will be representing Virginia along with runner-up Stafford at the Southeastern Theater Conference in March.
So now they have to raise more than eight-thousand dollars for their trip to Tennessee. Contributions may be made payable to TAHS and sent to the school in care of Cecille Deason.
A big honor for these students and they sure do have a lot of talent to offer!
