STAUNTON, Va. -- The Virginia Coalition for Open Government ranked cities based on how many clicks on a computer it takes to see a budget.

The City of Waynesboro's budget is one click away, so it got an A. The City of Staunton got a C, meaning it took five clicks to reach the budget page.

Steve Owen, Staunton's city manager said the city tries to gives as much access to its documents as possible.

“If we could reduce the number of clicks and get a better grade, I guess that's worthy of a few hours of work. We'll do that. We can't let Waynesboro get too far ahead of us on this,” said Owen.

The 2013 budget is available on the city of Staunton's website. You can click here: How many clicks to get to your budget? to see how other cities and counties in the Valley ranked.
