ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va -- A musical group, that is part of the Valley Greeters, just had their first choir meeting of the year. The group performs at places like Generations Crossings and various nursing homes across the Valley.

They practiced Thursday afternoon for a new season and they also just welcomed a new director of the choir.

Sharon Bloomquist is the coordinator of the chorus and she has been a part of it for 19 years! She said it is always tough to get new members to join since you have to volunteer a lot of your time.

"One of the hardest things is we're a typical volunteer choir and it calls for a certain commitment and choirs meet weekly and nobody else does that. So you know that doesn't always appeal to members," said Bloomquist.

The choir meets every Thursday from 11 a.m. To 12 p.m. at the Massanutten Presbyterian Church.
