Some Harrisonburg volunteers are wrapping Christmas gifts a little early for children in need this holiday season.
That's because they are sending boxes full of toys to children of Virginia inmates.
Kingsway Prison and Family Outreach started the program 26-years ago.
Shel and Louise Jennings are the founding directors.
This year, more inmates have submitted applications to the program.
Volunteers are sending gifts to 400 kids.
Last year that number stood at 300.
"If we didn't give them Christmas gifts some of them wouldn't event have a Christmas. Some of them don't have Christmas trees, some don't have what we call a celebration meal. Over the years Kingsway has touched so many people through the Apple Tree Project," said Pat Crouse of Kingway Prison and Family Outreach.
