WAYNESBORO, Va. -- The Waynesboro Fire Department is getting ready for their yearly auction on Saturday.
They'll be raising money to help pay for equipment and other needs for volunteer crews and for their department.
Administrative Assistant Ginny Henderson, who helps coordinate the auction, said the fundraiser provides everything from gear to masks and radios.
For the auction, they've had donations from the Redskins before.
This year, big ticket items include tickets to the Charlotte Motor Speedway and a stay at Smith Mountain Lake.
The goal for this year is to raise $15,000.
"Years ago we started at like 50 dollars, and we've raised up now to like $15,000. And when it helps us, it's helping us to continue to help others. When they fight the fire you want them to be the best equipped for their safety and the safety of the others," said Henderson.
The fire crews have unloaded four trailers worth of items.
They expect to unload the used items for the auction on Friday.
If you're interested in going, the auction is in the advance parking lot, which is adjacent to the fire department.
The auction is at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
