Winchester Man Charged with Armed Robbery

WINCHESTER,Va. (WHSV) -- Winchester police arrested Carl Preston Edwards in connection with an armed robbery late Sunday night.

Edwards, 31, of Winchester, was charged with robbery, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, and drunk in public.

A Winchester Police officer responded to the 300 block of National Avenue in reference to a possible robbery at about 11 p.m. Sunday.

The officer was informed that a man was robbed at gunpoint by an unknown black man.

The suspect was described as having short dark hair, facial hair, and was wearing a red plaid jacket and dark jeans.

Just before midnight, officers saw a man who matched the description of the suspect at the intersection of Gray and National Avenues.

The incident remains under investigation.
