HARRISONBURG, Va -- The Zip Car program at James Madison University aims to make transportation more convenient for students.

Students will be able to rent a car to go home for the weekend or go down the street for groceries. Zip cars have already been a success at hundreds of colleges and Lee Eshelman, JMU's transportation manager, is expecting the same result at JMU.

“We don't have a lot of public transportation in and out of here, so I think it's an option that's going to be well received and valued so we expect it to grow over several months,” said Eshelman.

Eshelman was showing the cars to students on Thursday.

The cars will be located on campus, right outside of the bookstore. Students can rent one of these cars by the hour or by the day.
