Elementary School Gets Grant for Surveillance System

An elementary school in Timberville is getting a grant to keep kids safe.

Plains Elementary was awarded the $1,000 grant Tuesday morning.

It will be used to help pay for a surveillance system.

Danielle Alicea, a teacher at Plains Elementary, says, "The grant is for installing surveillance cameras around the school, outside of the school. Primarily, it is our focus first, to try to make, keep the school safe and make everybody feel more comfortable and more safe in the school."

BotkinRose Law firm of Harrisonburg made the donation and picked the winner.

It is part of Project 3, a partnership involving WHSV-TV3, local businesses and area schools.
