Wind energy is a new topic for students at Thomas Harrison Middle School in Harrisonburg.
The school received $1,000 grant from “Project 3” on Wednesday.
The money will go toward funding the wind turbine project at the school.
"It's something that we can take our students out, and show them. And for a lot of our kids, they don't have the opportunity to see things live and up close, so it's a real-life example of generating power," said THMS Ecology Club Sponsor Jon Devier-Scott.
The grant was donated by LD&B Insurance Agency Inc. as part of a partnership between TV-3, local businesses and area schools.
