Recess at John C. Myers Elementary School got a little bit more exciting Wednesday.
The school in Broadway received a $1,000 grant from “Project 3,” which is a partnership involving TV-3, local businesses and area schools.
Valley Honda and Valley Volkswagen made the donation and selected the winner.
The grant will go toward improving the playground to accommodate all children, including those with special needs.
John C. Myers Teacher's Assistant Ruth Sonifrank and her daughter helped with the project.
“"When I was in elementary school, I had a friend who couldn't play on the playground. And so whenever we would go outside she would just have to sit around and watch everyone else play and that wasn't fair. You should have a chance to play on the playground with your friends as you're growing up," said Sonifrank.
