A Staunton school is getting a grant to buy audiobooks to help children who are struggling with reading.
Shelburne Middle School was awarded a $1,000 grant.
Jessica Kitta, a teacher at the school, says, "And I have kids who at the beginning of the year said, 'I don't want to read, I hate this, this is my least favorite class, I've never been good at reading.' And I say well let's try this book, let's listen to it and follow along. And at the end they're like, 'This is a great book, do you have any other ones I could listen to?' And it's just, that's why we're here. We want to make them love reading."
The grant comes from Project 3, a partnership between WHSV TV3, local businesses and area schools.
Angelopulos Dental made the donation for the grant and selected the winner.
