AUGUSTA COUNTY -- Family members of two teenage boys injured in a car crash in Churchville said the community and friends have been very supportive, but they still need help from good neighbors.

David Fitzgerald and Dalton Hinkle were flown to the University of Virginia Medical Center more than a week ago after being thrown from a car. They were still in the hospital on Monday evening.

Family members say Fitzgerald is doing well and that he is awake and talking. Hinkle is still in a coma with some brain damage and a broken jaw.

The families are working on some fundraisers for hospital costs.

The first fundraiser will be at Mrs. Rowe's restaurant in Staunton on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Restaurant employees plan to donate part of their sales to the families.
