HARRISONBURG -- According to search warrants, a person in Harrisonburg posted an advertisement online to sell a baby. The ad on Craigslist was offering to sell the baby for $2,600.

Harrisonburg police filed those search warrants this week. The warrants say the person posted pictures of the baby, saying it was for sale. There was also an email address to contact if a person was interested in buying the baby.

Law enforcement said this could all be a joke, but officers are investigating it just as seriously as if the ad was real.

The director of social services said he wants all children to be safe and that this incident is nothing to joke about.
