Favorite dance style:
I grew in the 60’s and 70’s so the guys moved a lot but I don’t think there was a name for that.
Where are you from? Where did you go to college?
I was born in southwestern Georgia and my family moved to West Virginia as I entered high school. I received my baccalaureate degree from Concord College (now Concord University) in West Virginia and my graduate degrees from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University.
Occupation and other community service you are involved in:
I currently serve James Madison University as the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. I also currently serve on the RMH/Sentara Board.
Fun facts about you:
I have a great family and we just really enjoy each other and doing things together. I love to travel. I bleed purple and gold.
Why did you decide to participate in DWTS?
As you know, one of the participants for this year had to drop out due to family reasons, so I am a midseason replacement. I decided to take on this challenge because of my belief in and appreciation for the crucial role the Harrisonburg Rockingham Day Care Center plays in our community.
I love to dance because...
I love music – not sure I love to dance. I love to do this dance for the children and families served by HRDCC.
If there was one thing that we could focus on about you as we promote DWTS, what would that one thing be?
That focus should be on supporting HRDCC and the vital role it plays in our community. The focus should be on the children and families.
