I am a native of the Valley and graduated from Harrisonburg High School. I attended and graduated college from East Tennessee State University before moving to Charleston, South Carolina for four years. I returned home to Harrisonburg in 1998. I married Erik Shifflett in 2000 and I have two step children, Austin (18) and Tanner (17) and two girls, Emma Grace (9) and Leah Faith (7).
Occupation and other community service you are involved in: I am a professional sales representative for a pharmaceutical company; I am currently a committee member for the annual Generations Crossing 5k.
Fun facts about you: As a child, I have a fond memory growing up visiting my grandparents on Sunday afternoons with family; my cousin and I would choreograph our own dance routines and perform for the family to the albums of Saturday Night Fever, Grease and Michael Jackson.
I challenge myself to be physically active; I think it’s important and beneficial both personally and as a model to my children. It is equally important to have fun in the process! I completed my first half-marathon this year raising money for charity and I am scheduled for my second half in the fall. I am extremely passionate about my family, life and giving back to our community. I am very blessed!
I love to laugh.
Why did you decide to participate in DWTS? As a parent of two children that attended Harrisonburg/Rockingham Daycare, I not only find being selected as a star as challenging but also humbling; this is my chance to give back to Harrisonburg/Rockingham Daycare what they have given to my children.
I love to dance because…. it is one of my happy places!!
