I grew up in the town of Bridgewater, VA which is also where I currently live. I graduated from the original Turner Ashby High School and then Bridgewater College with a Bachelors’ Degree in Mathematics.
Occupation and other community service you are involved in: Financial Center Leader-Branch Banking & Trust (BB&T)-Dayton Office. A Banker by day and DWTS at night.
USA Dance, Inc Treasurer, Town of Dayton Merchants Association Treasurer, Pianist Briery Branch Church of the Brethren Choir, 21 year member of the local Tri-County Antique Automobile Club of America as well as a national member of the Chevrolet and Lincoln Continental Clubs
Fun facts about you: I have always had an ingrained love for cars, especially older cars. Even as a toddler I would ask my parents, “What kind of car is that?” I learned to play the piano during TV commercials. The piano in my childhood home was located adjacent to the family or TV room. It was impossible to practice without drowning out the TV shows like Bewitched or The Partridge Family. No one cared if I drowned out the commercials.
Why did you decide to participate in DWTS? Karen Thomas asked me in a really nice way….Well that was part of it. Seriously though, it was because it is for a good cause and the funds were going to be raised in a fun way. And without sounding too cliché, it was because it would also take me a little out of my comfort zone in regard to my normal dancing.
I love to dance because…. Music has the ability to make you want to tap your toe or shake your leg. Dance takes it to the next level. With dance you are allowed to coordinate and move your entire body to the music and you are able to dance with someone. Dancing with a partner requires working together as a team to move about confidently on the dance floor and to execute whatever figure, pattern or freestyle interpretation you have decided to do. But in the end dancing should just be plain fun!
