I am originally from Bel Air, Maryland, which is about a half hour northeast of Baltimore. College took me to the University of Miami in Florida. I figured if I could be near beaches and enjoy summer year round, that’s where I should spend four years studying.
Occupation and other community service you are involved in: I am a meteorologist at WHSV TV3 for the Daybreak and Noon shows. I have a little brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters in Harrisonburg and volunteer with Second Home, an after school program for students from Spotswood Elementary and Thomas Harrison Middle School.
Fun facts about you:
I started running marathons and doing triathlons in college and really enjoy exercising outside. I gained a bit of performing experience while in college, but not really how you’d think, or as myself. The Duke Dog might understand. When crowds can’t see your face, getting in front of thousands of people is easy, so this, might be a different level of stage fright.
Why did you decide to participate in DWTS?
First, to have fun. It is something that will be far outside of my comfort zone and I’m very excited for the challenge. I also, and more importantly, think this is for a great cause. The Child Daycare is housed in some of the same buildings as Second Home. I’ve been able to see first hand, how the money raised helps, and how important it is to families in the area.
I love to dance because….
it is a chance to have fun and hopefully look good doing it, maybe like I have some rhythm. But, anyone that knows me, knows that isn’t true! Wait, is rhythm something that can be taught?
