Registration Deadline for Primary

Voters in Virginia have just one more week to register to vote in the upcoming presidential primary.

The last day to sign up is Monday, January 14. The primary takes place on February 12. Voters will only be allowed to choose from one political party, and the same rules apply if you're voting with an absentee ballot.

"In a normal November election, absentee voting period is 45-day period," says registrar Sherri Lachetta. "For primaries, it's a 30-day period. So, next Monday our absentee voting period starts."

The primary also allows people whoa re under 18 to vote. As long as you will turn 18 by November 4 of this year, you are allowed to vote in the primary next month.
