People around the Valley were rushing to the registrar Monday to get on the list to vote in the upcoming Virginia presidential primary. Monday was the last day to register for the primary on February 12.
It was also the first day for absentee voters to make their choice ahead of time.
The Staunton Registrar says registration started slow this election season, but it took off as the debates between candidates began.
"When you see primaries in other states, that's become televised with the competition and candidates, people are getting more aware and more geared up, want to make sure they don't miss voting over here," says registrar Amanda Dimeo.
The Waynesboro registrar says their turnout should be about the same as it has been with other presidential primaries.
