Gov.-elect Bob McDonnell will have to deal with Virginia's transportation issues when he takes office next year.

Fellow Republicans across the country are welcoming him to the job.

Two newly elected governors spoke at the Republican Governor's Association conference Wednesday in Austin, Texas.

When asked if they felt national issues helped them win, both McDonnell and Chris Christie of New Jersey said "not directly."

"There is so much heartache in this economy and there's so much bad news that people hear about," says McDonnell. "What they don't need is more rancor out of Washington or Richmond or the capitol of any state. They need to try to find people that have the big ideas and want to work together to get those things done."

McDonnell says he came out against card check and cap and trade legislation early on in his campaign, which won him the support of the business community.
