With all 140 legislative seats and control of a closely divided Senate on the line, a pro-business group gives incumbent Republicans better marks for pro-business votes this year than Democrats.
The annual scorecard by Virginia FREE shows GOP senators and delegates scoring about 83 percent compared with 68 percent for Democrats.
As a group, Republicans scored about the same in the House and the Senate, 83 percent. However, House Democrats averaged about 70 percent compared with 66 percent by Senate Democrats.
If it influences business sector political giving, the scorecard could help Republicans amass cash for their effort to gain the two seats they need to take back the effective majority they lost to the Democrats in 2007.
Only one legislator, Del. Charles Carrico, scored 100.
