Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is ahead of Lt. Governor Bill Bolling for the 2013 Republican nomination for governor.
According to a poll by Quinnipiac University, Cuccinelli leads Bolling by 36 points. Even more, Cuccinelli is ahead in every demographic.
WHSV met with Cuccinelli Wednesday to see why he thinks he is ahead in the race. He said Virginians like him because he does what he said he would do when he ran for Attorney General.
"You know, the fact that we have been very forceful about that, bold in pursuing a principled agenda, I think it has resonated spectacularly well not just with Republicans but that same poll showed that we have a very high approval rating versus unapproval," said Cuccinelli.
In that same poll, it shows that Tea Partiers align themselves with Cuccinelli over Bolling by more than 60 points.
The primary for the Republican nomination will take place next year.
