HARRISONBURG, Va -- Former Gov. George Allen visited Tactical and Survival Specialties Incorporated. The company makes Military products.
Small businesses may face automatic spending cuts in January, unless Congress can come to a compromise on the budget. Allen said fixing the economy is the key to the solving the problem and he believes tax reform could help address the issue.
Meanwhile, his competitor Democrat Tim Kaine, is advocating fixing the problem with a combination of revenues, along with some cuts.
Allen said he understands that the U.S. government will have to make choices
"The right thing to do is set priorities, make decisions,” said Allen. “Don't sluff it off on another commission, which if it fails, ends up being potentially devastating to our Military readiness, and jobs in Virginia. I could never imagine myself voting for something that could be so devastating to, again, our Military and families and jobs in Virginia."
A new poll out Wednesday showed Tim Kaine with a slight lead over Allen. It is a very close race with just about three months to go.
