At the Augusta County Board of Supervisors meeting Wednesday night, Riverheads District Supervisor Nancy Sorrells had a special announcement.

After eight years on the board, she has decided not to run for reelection.

She says she enjoys serving the county but would like to be able to spend more time with her family.

On Wednesday, Sorrells said, even though she will be leaving the board, she will still be active in the county.

"There is no way you are going to get rid of me, I've learned the ropes now," says Sorrells. "There is lots of boards and commissions, and lots of ways that Augusta County and Staunton and Waynesboro can use volunteers to help them out, so I plan to be very active with that."

Sorrells has been very active in historical research for the county and is a published author.
