New Student Government Elections at WVU After Allegations of Tampering

Vote tampering allegations against multiple candidates have forced West Virginia University to call for new Student Government Administration elections.

The Daily Athenaeum reports the Judicial Board voted Tuesday night for a revote but didn't single any candidates out.

Board chairman James Bailey says members of both the Pirate and Fusion parties appear to have committed massive voter fraud, some allegedly using phones and computers to cast improper votes.

Student body President Chris Lewallen says a new election will be held on April 20 at six locations.

Leaders of both parties say they support the revote.

Lewallen says this is not the first time WVU has ordered new elections, but he couldn't immediately offer details on previous incidents.
