Another local lawmaker has announced he wants to keep his job in Richmond.

Republican State Sen. Mark Obenshain says he plans to run for reelection.

Obenshain has represented the 26th Senate District for the past eight years. It includes Harrisonburg, part of Rockingham County, and the counties of Warren, Shenandoah, Page and Rappahannock.

Obenshain was the only Valley lawmaker, House or Senate, whose district was not significantly changed by the new redistricting lines.

He says he is running for reelection to continue to push for low taxes and limited government.

Obenshain's announcement came one day after Republican Del. Dickie Bell, from Staunton, announced he is running for reelection.
