The governing body of Augusta County has a lot of new faces tonight.

Five of the seven seats on the Board of Supervisors were won by newcomers.

Four of the current members did not seek re-election.

One of the seats had three candidates. Newcomer Marshall Pattie won the seat in the North River District with 64% of the vote.

Pattie got more votes than both of his challengers combined. Pattie ran against Independent Stephen Morris and Republican Larry Roller.

Pattie grew up in a very political family. Both of his parents worked for U.S. Senators.

He said he saw this race as the best way he could follow in their footsteps and get involved in the community.

"I know that winning the election is the one percent of what I am really doing here and ninety-nine percent is the job. So I have so much I need to learn and to study,” said Pattie.

“One of the things I want to do differently is take a fresh look at everything [to see] is there a more effective, more efficient way to run our government." is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
