Public Hearing Set for WV Redistricting

Residents will have opportunity in June to voice their opinions and concerns on how their legislative and congressional districts should be drawn.

The West Virginia Senate Redistricting Task Force has scheduled a public meeting at Tamarack in Beckley June 1.

Berkeley County Sen. John Unger is the task force's chairman. The Democrat said Wednesday that the group wants to make the redistricting process as open and transparent as possible.

Other public meetings are planned but times and locations haven't been determined.

Population changes reflected in the 2010 Census will likely result in a shifting of seats in both the Senate and 100-member House of Delegates.
