The race for governor just got a little more heated as Robert Sarvis, the Libertarian candidate, was left out of tonight's gubernatorial debate between Republican Ken Cuccinelli and Democrat Terry McAuliffe.
Sarvis said he is disappointed to be left out of this debate because he believes having a third candidate present helps to focus on the issues and not the candidates themselves.
"I think the negativity in the race would be removed to some extent with a third party candidate in the race because negative comments help one candidate in a two way race but they are not as helpful in a three way race," said Sarvis.
He will be live tweeting and blogging during the debate.
Although he wasn't included, his hopes are still high that he will be in the next debate coming up this October.
"We have been included in other forums and we are traveling the state quite a bit to reach voters as much as possible. Also, reaching out to as much media, getting our message out that way. I also think there is a good change we will be included in the Virginia Tech debate in October," said Sarvis.
He said he will have a presence during the debate as he will run an ad in the Northern Virginia area where the debate is taking place.
