Some fabric made here in the Valley will hit the runway in New York City. Transprint USA in Harrisonburg is the only place to do air dying which allows them to dye without water. Because of the special process, several New York fashion designers use the fabric. Some brands that may ring a bell include Chico and Barneys. Pretty soon, some of the clothes will hit the runway in the Big Apple.
"It is surprising how few people actually know what this group does and what we do here. But frankly in the apparel industry, we are a part of the apparel process and a very significant one. Harrisonburg is very important to be the final process," said Bonnie Julian with Transprint USA.
Julian says the process is considered environmentally-friendly.
