Nearly a third of West Virginia's House of Delegates has been assigned to draft that chamber's redistricting plan.

Speaker Rick Thompson announced the 30-member committee Thursday. Majority Leader Brent Boggs will chair the committee.

Its members hail from 26 of the state's 55 counties. Cabell and Wood counties each have two members, while Kanawha has three. Republicans hold ten committee slots, reflecting their overall share of the House.

Boggs said the committee will soon offer a toll-free number so West Virginians can weigh in on the process. It also plans to provide information and allow for posted comments online. It expects to hold its first meeting during next month's interim session.

The Senate also has a redistricting panel. Lawmakers are redrawing legislative and congressional districts following the 2010 Census.
