Election Day may be over, but one local race is still undecided.

The three-way Town Council Election in Broadway is awaiting its results because the write-in candidate captured more votes than two of the registered candidates.

Technically, the race was uncontested because there are three spots available with three candidates running.

The write-in, however, has delayed the results.

Broadway Mayor John F. Long says there are two write-in names that received the majority.

Gene Nesselrodt, who is currently on the town council, had planned on retiring, but recently changed his mind.

The other is local business owner Chad Comer who announced his write-in campaign on Facebook.

Long says the write-ins were not a surprise and many people throughout the town knew about both campaigns.

"Mr. Nesslerodt had some signs out around town and word of mouth. I'm not certain of Mr. Comer, I know there was some information on Facebook,” said Long.

The breakdown of the votes between the two will not come out until Friday.

Richard Fulk is currently leading the race and is followed by the total number of write-in votes.

Douglas Harpine received the third most votes and he is followed by Fred Olson.
