Write-in Votes Split, Three on Ballot Take Broadway Council Seats

Even though the total number of write-ins for Broadway Town Council received the second most votes, the three registered candidates will take the town council seats.

The majority of the write-in votes were for Gene Nesselrodt and Chad Comer. However, each received less votes than Richard Fulk, Douglas Harpine and Fred Olson.

Nesselrodt is currently on the town council. He initially did not intend to run again, but later changed his mind and kicked off a write-in campaign in Broadway.

Comer is a local business owner and he, too, had a write-in campaign using Facebook to get his name out to voters.

In total, there were 561 write-in votes with Comer receiving 228 and Nesselrodt earning 327.

While a write-in receiving hundreds of votes is not common, Broadway Mayor John Long says he was not surprised because of Comer and Nesselrodt's campaign efforts.
