James Madison University will be getting national recognition in Macy's Thanksgiving Parade next year.
After applying months in advance, parade officials selected JMU's marching band to appear in the 2008 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Although the 375 piece band has not picked a song yet or begun to practice, they will have plenty of time to prepare.
Assistant band director Bill Posey says the students are excited about the opportunity, but won't crack under the pressure.
He says, "They can work really well under pressure. They're good performers. They're used to performing. By that time, we will have at least probably ten different performances under our belt. They're pretty calm and collected when they get up there, but they're excited to be there and everything but as far as performing, they know what they got to do and they'll come through with it."
JMU's marching band was also a part of the parade back in 2001.
