Skyline Drive Work

The Shenandoah National Park has a long project ahead of them, but they're finally underway with the reconstruction of Skyline Drive.

Workers are installing drainage pipes, new guardrails, and new pavement.
The work will take ten months to finish.

Drivers should expect some back-ups, because the road will allow limited traffic during construction.

Construction supervisor Jose Firvida-Cerderira says, "Well there'll be a little bit of delays but not much. We will do the pipe work right now out here in the winter and in the spring we will start doing the road construction. You know people will have some delays but we're going to have a flag man on the road so all the time so we will have one lane open."

It has been almost 20 years since work was last done on Skyline Drive.
