Mineral Wins Alan Jackson Contest

October 10, 2011

The Eventful.com website has announced the town of Mineral as the winner of the Alan Jackson contest. According to the website the country singer is set to perform.

"I'm really excited and I think everybody in this town is really excited, nothing like this has ever really happened," said fan Heather Virts.

Mineral won the contest with more than 30,000 votes. It beat out Kansas City and Green Bay, Wisconsin. The town is in Louisa County, which is still trying to recover from the August earthquake.

"We weren't even on the map until we got hit by an earthquake," said Virts.

The news of the upcoming concert has local business excited for the potential boost in the economy.

"I think its great for the area. The area needs it," said Big John Pizza employee Louise Himas.

The question still lingers on where and when the contest will take place. Many are hoping it happens soon.
